What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a movement method developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. Originally called Contrology, it was designed to strengthen both the body and mind from the inside out.
At the heart of the practice is a focus on controlled, intentional movement, often performed on specialised apparatuses such as the Reformer, Chair, Ladder Barrel and more. These tools support and challenge the body, helping to build core strength, flexibility, and balance, while emphasising alignment, breath, and precision.
More than just a form of exercise, Pilates is a holistic approach to movement. It improves posture, helps prevent injury, and enhances overall well-being. Through consistent practice, you learn to move more mindfully, connect deeply with your body, and cultivate lasting strength from within.
